This is a program born of concern and hope that children of alumni have the same or better opportunity to obtain degrees in their chosen fields of interest as their parents had.

Delaware State was established in 1891 to provide for the educational needs of colored students, and in a century has grown to serve all citizens of Delaware and the nation.

blue dotA $1 million commitment to provide on-going scholarship support

  • Majority of students require some financial assistance
  • A third of admitted students fail to enroll for lack of funds
  • Many of the students who drop out have financial problems
blue dot An Endowed Scholarship ensuring the future
This commitment to our youth is in perpetuity. The corpus of the fund will increase with each contribution from you and other alumni and friends, but it will never be invaded. Only the investment returns will be used to fund scholarship awards year after year.

  • A global professional network of educators, attorneys, doctors, entrepreneurs, civic leaders...
The University is what it is because of its students and its graduates. It is Not the building and grounds, the textbooks and the computers. The University is its people.

blue dot How the program works
Gifts to the Alumni LEGACY Scholarship from alumni, friends, corporations, churches, foundations, and other sources are being received and will form the corpus of the endowment. The commitment is to raise a minimum of $1 million.

Once the goal is attained, an Alumni Legacy Scholarship Committee reviews applications from students who are descendants of alumni and selects the recipients for the given year. The Alumni Affairs Office is responsible for processing applications.
